There are currently five base-map options for use in HawkEye® . The default is topographic however, the most popular is aerial imagery because of the clarity.
The aerial imagery in New Zealand is provided by Eagle Technology Group who create a composite imagery web service from the imagery made available by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).
This imagery service is provided free of charge to those who wish to use it. In the case of international users, the Esri image service of the world is used, which is also provided free of charge via various providers.
There are varying dates for the imagery provided by LINZ as they are mainly driven by the needs of the public sector in New Zealand such as local government agencies. You can find out more information about New Zealand’s aerial imagery as provided by LINZ on their website.
There is also a page on their website that refers to potential public sector campaigns to acquire new imagery and the approximate date of collection. You can view it here.
Note that the imagery provision may be some months after data acquisition.
Customer supplied imagery
HawkEye has the ability to deliver customer based imagery as well as the LINZ base imagery. If you have had your farm flown by any of the companies providing this service, we will be able to provide that as your Aerial imagery base-map should you so wish.
You'll need to contact us to arrange delivery of the digital files so we can provide this service. If you do not have the files, you can provide the supplier’s details (along with your permission to have the imagery provided to us) so it can be included in your farm base-map.
